OSHAWA, Ont. – A former Oshawa scout leader who pleaded guilty to molesting nine boys decades ago has been sentenced to house arrest.
The Crown had asked for an 18-month jail term for Stanley Marcus Brown, 65, while the defence wanted a conditional sentence.
Brown pleaded guilty in January to nine counts of indecent assault for the offences that happened in the 1970s when Brown was an Oshawa scout leader.
Brown admitted he abused the boys during scout camping trips and overnight stays at a cottage.
He was sentenced to two years less a day of house arrest then three years of probation when his sentence has elapsed.
He’ll also be on the national sex offender registry for life.
