BRANDON, Manitoba. — A convicted drug trafficker has been sent to prison in Manitoba for using drugs to lure girls in government care into sex.
Joshua Allan Duff, who is 30, was sentenced Thursday in Brandon provincial court to three years and 10 months.
He pleaded guilty earlier this week to harbouring children in care, sexual interference and procuring sex from three girls.
Court heard the four victims were girls between 13 and 15 years old who were living in group homes. The Crown said Duff gave the girls cocaine and marijuana to have sex with him at his home between February 2010 and October 2014. One girl had sex with him in exchange for cocaine 15 to 20 times.
“These are individuals who are troubled people, vulnerable people, and Mr. Duff obviously took advantage of their situation in a way to satiate his own sexual needs,” said Judge John Combs.
