Public information and warning: sexual offender released
In the interest of public safety, the Edmonton Police Service is issuing the following warning. John Nederveen was released from the Regional Psychiatric Center (RPC – Prairies Region), Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where he served two years and six months for sexual assault and sexual interference.
John Nederveen is considered by police to be a predatory and opportunistic sexual offender (pedophile) who has a history of sexually assaulting young children, both males and females, and poses a risk of significant harm to the community. It is expected that Nederveen will reside in the Edmonton area.
The Edmonton Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community about Nederveen.
John Nederveen, 42-years-old
Is described as a Caucasian, 165 cm (5’5”), 75 kg. (166 lbs.), with brown hair and blue eyes.
Members of the public are advised that the intent of this process is to enable citizens to take suitable precautionary measures. Releasing this information is NOT intended to encourage people to engage in any form of vigilante action.
