Calgary Police Service – Media Release
In the interest of public safety, the Calgary Police Service is issuing the following public information and warning in regard to the release of an inmate.
Edward Michael WATERS, 42, is in the Calgary area after having served a 14 year, six month federal prison term for two counts of sexual assault and one count each of break and enter and sexual interference.
WATERS’ pattern of violent offences has been directed at people known to him, as well as strangers. The public is warned that WATERS has past convictions for sexual offences
against children. His pattern of offending escalates under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He is described as Caucasian, 5′ 11″, 176 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes.
WATERS was released to the Calgary area on July 13, 2007.
The Calgary Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of Edward WATERS.
Members of the public are advised that the intent of the process is to enable members of the public to take suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action.
